1 teaspoon ginger paste

2 teaspoon salt

2 tsp Chilli powder

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 medium onion (sliced)

Tomato 2 (chopped)
4 green chillies

1-inch piece of ginger (sliced)
12 teaspoon salt

12 teaspoon red chilli powder

12 teaspoon garam masala powder

12 teaspoon crushed black pepper

14 teaspoon crushed coriander

12 teaspoon crushed cumin

12 teaspoon dry fenugreek

As a garnish

Green chiles, cilantro, and ginger

Tawa Chicken of Lahore is a spicy dish cooked in traditional Pakistani spices, like red chillies, cumin powder, fenugreek powder, garam masala, and whole spices. However, in the Lahori Tawa chicken recipe, the marination of chicken in ginger garlic paste, yoghurt, turmeric, and salt pepper mix is significant.

  • 2 Oil ¼ cup
  • To make a marinade
  • Paste of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon or to taste
  • 2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • To make Masala
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • Tomato 2 (chopped)
  • 4 green chillies
  • a 1-inch piece of ginger (sliced)
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoons red chilli powder
  • 12 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 12 teaspoons crushed black pepper
  • 14 teaspoons crushed coriander
  • 12 teaspoons crushed cumin
  • 12 teaspoons dry fenugreek
  • As a garnish
  • Green chiles, cilantro, and ginger
Directions
  • Step 1 Wash and clean the chicken leg pieces before making the cuts.
  • Step 2 Now, one by one, evenly distribute the marinade ingredients over the leg pieces. Allow it to sit for 2-3 hours.
  • Step 3 On a griddle/Tawa, heat the oil/ghee (I used a wide bottom iron wok). Shift the chicken leg pieces onto the Tawa and stir once to prevent them from sticking.
  • Step 4 Cover and steam for 10 minutes on low heat.
  • Step 5 Turn over and cook for another 10 minutes, covered.
  • Step 6 Place the onion, tomato, green chile, and ginger on the sides and on top of the chicken.
  • Step 7 Sprinkle with all of the spices. Cook for 5 minutes, covered.
