Chicken Dhaba Karahi is mostly prepared at roadside ‘Dhabas’ in Pakistan and it is amazingly delicious and yummy! This is famous because of its spicy taste specially in Pakistan. Its ingredients vary depending on the region this dish is one of the hallmarks of Pakistani cuisines.

Pakistani food is not a joke and it’s not completed without its roadside Dhaba’s food. Dhaba murgh or Dhaba style chicken karahi itself is a unique and prominent dish of Pakistani cuisine. However, its flavour and appealing look attract karahi lovers and desi food lovers. One of the most considerable difference from other types of karahis is rich use of fresh butter in dhabha style chicken karahi. That butter makes its taste so yummy and tasty.

Dhaba style chicken karahi has also been pronounced Dhaba karahi and this recipe is mostly preparing in roadside dhabas in Pakistan and in India as well. Its taste is very spicy and its look is very attractive. My dhaba chicken recipe which I have mentioned below is very simple and easy to make.

Ingredients
  • 6 tbs cooking Oil
  • 6 tbs butter
  • 2lb chicken
  • 2 tbs freshly crushed garlic and ginger
  • 1lb fresh tomatoes
  • 1 ½ tsp salt or as per taste
  • 2 tbs cumin
  • 2 tbs dry coriander
  • ½ tsp chopped black paper
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • One tsp garam masala
  • 3 tbs fenugreek (Dry methi)
  • 3 sliced jalapenos (optional)
  • 6 tbs fresh green coriander
  • 3 tsp sliced fresh garlic
Directions
  • Step 1 Wash the chicken pieces with water.
  • Step 2 Add dry coriander, salt, cumin, black pepper, garam masala, and chilli flakes in a small bowl.
  • Step 3 Dry masala mixture
  • Step 4 Put butter and oil in a pan or Karahi and after melting butter add half of the chicken pieces and fry on full flame. When chicken turns a golden brownish colour, remove into another dish or pan, fry the remaining chicken pieces in the same manner and remove it from the karahi.
  • Step 5 Add ginger and garlic in the remaining oil and butter, and fry for two minutes, then add tomatoes and half the dry masala mixture.
  • Step 6 Add a cup of water and mix well, cook until the liquids dry up and the mixture is oil separates. Keep checking from time to time that the mixture does not stick.
  • Step 7 Add the chicken pieces and yogurt, cook on medium flame.
  • Step 8 Add remaining dry masala mixture
  • Step 9 Mix well, cooked covered for five minutes on low flame. Then add sliced ginger, fresh chopped coriander, and fresh jalapenos (if included).
  • Step 10 Your Chicken Dhaba karahi is ready, it is suitable to serve with naan and chapattis but not suitable with rice.

Its taste is very spicy and its look is very attractive. My dhaba chicken recipe which I have mentioned above is very simple and easy to make. It takes 40 minutes to cook. If you want to enhance your dhaba karahi’s taste then fry your chicken pieces into butter. After, make masala for your karahi and for that add all spice, chillies, coriander, and other such ingredients, mix and fry them well. For yummy and delicious curry follow all above instructions. Then, add fried chicken pieces into the karahi and cook for 10 minutes. Lastly, garnish your dhaba karahi with ginger and sliced lemon.
